Robots need love, too May 7, 2010
The last time that I mentioned Shawn Roberts, it was regarding his debut album, Traveling South. This go around, it’s to focus on one of his other numerous talents – painting and illustration. My design sister, Flora, and I are promoting Shawn’s upcoming gallery show on our blogs to help get the word out.
Here’s the official press release:
Robots Takeover Chicago
The ROBOTS NEED LOVE, TOO Group Art Show, a mix of robot themed paintings, screen prints, electronic work, and sculpture will debut at Chicago’s Barbara & Barbara Gallery, at 1021 North Western Avenue on May 22nd, 2010 from 7pm-11pm
The group show fuses artists from across the country including Chicago, Florida, Pittsburgh, Virginia, and Detroit and their varied take on the subject of robots in all art forms.
“Robot art is inspired by many things; from the balance of technology and nature or the power of creating life to just a fond memory of playing with their old tin toys,” said Shawn Roberts, the host of the show. “This event is all about that love or hate affair we have with robots.”
The ROBOTS NEED LOVE, TOO event also features live music from Chicago’s The Vicki Lawsons.
Here’s a sneak peek at one of the pieces that will be on display, Capeck Prophecy (acrylic on wood).
If you’re in the Chicago area – go, go, go!
